This was my first time working with Jeff and Shin, who requested for a neutral look to complement the various outfits they had for the shoot. I used mainly warm colours on Shin, pale pink and bronze, and a slightly darker tone on the lips for contrast.

I like how Shin seems to "glow" so naturally :)

This gown was absolutely gorgeous! Though it was kinda big, even after we pulled all the strings as tightly as possible... but it was still lovely, with the effect of Belle's ballroom gown in Beauty and the Beast, I think :)

This one looked rather prom-ish, we thought!

Usually for smoky eyes, you have to be a little careful with the black eyeshadow... it can get pretty nasty when not blended properly! So the trick is so add it bit by bit from the lash line, blending it upwards as you go ^^

Burberry Ad!

Alright so it's not really a Burberry ad >_> But we think it's good enough to pass off as one!

Benny just sent me this sample photo from our recent shoot. I thought it looked really posh, almost like a real ad for Burberry xD Go Benny!

It's always great to work with Cordelia, she's a very hard-working model, and is just generally fun to be around :) For this shoot, I did navy blue smoky eyes on her. Her lip colour is a lovely beige tone from Shu Uemura's Rouge Unlimited collection. It's really good! She and I love the shade :)

I've finally shifted my online portfolio to Blogger! It took a while, and a few late nights figuring out the coding, but it's finally here!

This layout is by yours truly, my first website layout in a very long time. I checked my blogger account and I saw that I joined in 2001. 2001!!! o_o

Well now that that's said and done, here's looking forward to a new year and lots of new ventures to blog about here ^___^

Creative Makeup Shoot with Benny and Jocelyn!

Benny and I were interested in doing some creative themes ^_^ Since he liked the Sakura theme from my makeup exam, I created this Japanese theme that's all sweet and pinky, and uses Sakura petals too!

(Okay she looks a little scary here, but I think it's cool!)

We did a second, darker theme next.

Benny wasn't feeling well during this shoot :/ I hope he managed to get the shots he wanted. I really enjoy working with him!

The Lady in Red, Cordelia

I seem to be always doing red lipstick on Cordelia... but she pulls it off so well! Not many women can wear red the way she does :)

Photographer is Benny. He requested for a red-themed makeover ^^ The whole set-up felt very 'American Beauty' xD But we all had fun, especially with the rose petals!

I didn't know at that time that Alvelyn was going to shoot this in black and white... I guess that's how it is with artistic photographers! I'm glad the makeup still turned out okay though. Either way, I certainly had my share of fun during this shoot!

Tanja and the Swimming Pool Shoot

I've got to say, I like the way this photo turned out... it's just so mesmerizing! And her eyes, they just sparkle beautifully when the light hits them. Why can't we have some German gene injections? D:

This girl's body is loooooong. Alvelyn had trouble squeezing it into the frame!

I think it's every Asian woman's dream to be born with Caucasian eyes... Tanja's eyelashes were naturally thick and curly. Reminded me of the batting eyelashes you find on those baby dolls.

Silk and the Lipstick Collage

Silk and I kinda liked this shot, because it looks as if it's a frame caught in motion. It makes you feel as if she's about to speak.

Silk was reluctant to take the makeup off after we were done shooting, she said it was like an artwork on her lips xD I was quite happy with it too.

My old friend MD came back to Singapore to hold his wedding for his Singapore relatives side, and so I had the pleasure of working on Claire :)

Claire has very fair skin. The girls and I were jesting that she truly is the "fairest" of us all!

This shoot was one of LiJi's inspirations... I just went along with it :) The makeup was kept natural-looking (except for the heavy blusher), not to take the attention away from the elaborate set decorations. But I suppose real dancers have very heavy stage makeup.

I loved the way Felicia's face just absorbed the makeup so well! You can't tell how heavy it is until you look at our little family photo xD

Make-up Practical Exam - Best Creative Makeup!

It was a rather nerve-wrecking day. I met my model, Genevieve, for the first time in the morning, not even being able to practice on her before (as the girl who was supposed to be my model backed out at the last minute).

In the morning, we did Bridal Day makeup, and then we had to rush to get it off to prepare for the afternoon segment, which was Creative makeup. I was inspired to create a Japanese theme called Sakura, using the idea of Sakura tree branches in full blossom.

I was nervous as I'd only practised it once before, on my previous model. Moreover, the examiners kept coming to look at her and kept standing beside me while I was working x.x Talk about pressure!

In the end, this is how it turned out...

Genevieve was wonderful! She's a lovely girl and I'm really thankful that she was willing to be my model even though we'd never met before. She was very encouraging throughout the whole event, and she just brightened the mood for the both of us :)

We had to wait for a few hours for the exam results to be out, and even though she didn't need to, Genevieve actually lingered around. She came back just as they were announcing the results. I was really surprised when they awarded me for the Best Creative Makeup... but she wasn't! lol.

My first trophy ever! It's huge o_o And doesn't Genevieve look like she could be Japanese/Taiwanese? She's adorable :3

They didn't give me any special certificate for that, other than my makeup diploma. So I snapped a shot of the gift voucher I got along with the award:

They also awarded me with the Top 5 Best Thesis, but because of that, I wasn't allowed to take my Thesis home :/ It was meant to stay there as an example for future students to refer to.

Finally, we all took studio shots with our models for our portfolio. I believe if you visit my makeup school today, you can still find this photo of Genevieve and I stuck on the classroom wall xD

It's been a long time since I first started lessons at Plato, almost 2 years ago! If you're wondering why there was such a long gap, it's because I had to defer my examination as I needed to go back to complete my Diploma in Mass Communication. But during that time, I also worked part-time at Shu Uemura, and it really helped with my experience!

First Magazine shoot for Hype

This was my first published shoot in Hype magazine, back when I was in Ngee Ann Polytechnic! It was for a Levis spread in the magazine ^_^ It was for the 21st Issue, Sep/Oct 05.

It was quite fun, it being one of my first experiences with a photoshoot. And, there was a male model. It's not often that you get to do makeup on a guy. It's fun, I tell you. I remember putting too much blusher on him at first xD
